MEET OUR 2014 CHIYO TANAKA OKAMOTO SUMMER INTERNS!

Lillian Cai (left) and Sonum Dixit (right) at the Disney Studios

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lillian Cai is a rising sophomore at Franklin and Marshall College where she hopes to major in Environmental Science. During high school, Lillian worked closely with Southeast Asian Community Alliance, where she outreached to community members in Chinatown, Solano Canyon, and Lincoln Heights about voter engagement. Although she attends school on the East Coast, Lillian hopes to continue being engaged with the local community here in LA during the summer as well as after the completion of her college program.

Sonum Dixit graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Neuroscience from Amherst College in 2013. While at Amherst College, Sonum co-founded "It Happens Here," a magazine raising sexual assault awareness that then became an activist group and online blog (ithappenshereamherst.wordpress.com). The project was featured on Huffington Post and publicized widely on Tumblr.com. Moreover, Sonum was a Young Leaders' Institute Fellow for South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), where she examined the intersections of race, other identities, and bias-based bullying.
