On Monday, July 7, 2014, the U.S. Department of Education launched Excellent Educators for All, an initiative intended to support states and districts in staffing schools with effective educators, particularly in classrooms where they are needed most. Our mission at the CEEDAR Center is to support states engaged in comprehensive reform of their professional learning systems by revising certification/licensure standards, reforming preparation and professional development, and refining program evaluation and approval to address results-driven accountability. We can assist states with their plans to ensure effective educators for all in the following ways:

We provide intensive and targeted technical assistance (TA) to state agencies and teacher and leader preparation programs to improve professional learning systems and policies that support them. We are currently developing rubrics and self-assessment tools. You may request TA support on our website (ceedar.org).

We are developing tools for initial preparation and professional development providers to analyze and enhance course content. Innovation Configurations (ICs) help program faculty identify gaps in coverage and embed evidence-based practices (EBPs) as needed. Course Enhancement Modules (CEMs) provide rich resources for instructors. ICs and CEMs address the learning of students with disabilities and other learners who struggle. Currently, eight ICs and one CEM are available on our website via the Resources/Tools tab.

Upcoming webinars will focus on improving the preparation and ongoing professional development of teachers and leaders. Providing effective learning experiences for teachers and leaders includes accessing appropriate content and offering opportunities to practice. We announce our webinars on our website and in the CEEDAR Center newsletter. You may subscribe to or read archived issues via the Resources/Tools tab.
