Going National with City Dads Group

Dads: You’ve come a long way with your babies.

Two guys started NYC Dads Group six years ago so area fathers had access to the same kind of camaraderie, support and network that the mothers they encountered around Manhattan had built up and relied upon.

Today, NYC Dads Group consists of 1,000+ fathers strong, and the concept is now national with the recent launch of City Dads Group and its national website.

With outposts in 11 U.S. cities including our flagship in NYC, City Dads Group is a dynamic and diverse community of fathers navigating parenthood together that lets dads socialize and support one another. City Dads help fathers, online and in real life:

  • Support each other’s efforts to be the best father and parenting partner they can
  • Share their parenting perspectives, knowledge and experiences – good and bad – with each other and those who care about them
  • Demonstrate the new reality of parenting includes caring and capable fathers who are actively involved in the upbringing of their children

The new website, CityDadsGroup.com, supports these objectives by:

  • Putting every city group’s many Meetup events in one location that is easily sorted by location and date
  • Housing our award-winning blog filled with tales of fatherhood that give you food for thought, inspiration or a chuckle – sometimes all three.
  • Hosting The Modern Dads Podcast with experts in parenting, work-life balance and more.

Our NYC Dads Group is here to stay, but now with even more resources throughout the U.S. that can offer support, information and good times if your move or when you travel.

All Around the Big Apple

Cool Playgrounds for Hot Days

NYC Dads Group member Niel Vuolo has started an occasional series reviewing city playgrounds. First, he looks at the Triassic Playground in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, a breezy "oasis" perfect for water balloon fights. His second piece looks at the very "modern" Gantry Plaza Spray Park in Long Island City, which as various climbing apparatus, rubber surfaces, and lots of room for imaginative play.

'Rocky' on Broadway Knocks Us Out

Rocky remains one of the seminal films of our times, and a dozen NYC Dads recently had the opportunity to take the night off and see the show ... on The Great White Way. Our Corbin Younger reviews the "Rocky" Broadway musical and tells us why this unlikely adaptation of  Sylvester Stallone's 1976 Academy Award winning film wins the title again.

Want That U-Haul in Vanilla or Chocolate?

Many of us can surely relate to NYC Dad of two Ariel Chesler who reminisces about losing his family's close friends and neighbors. But what does one do when the people whose kids grew up with yours decide to move on?
