Six SWU students were involved in The Experience, an intense discipleship training program of Kingdom Building Ministries, which ran from May 16 to July 12. Pictured from left are Tiana Robbins of Chesnee, Jonathan Stegenga of Pickens, Lyndy Barnes of Easley, Ashley Bowers, a December graduate from Cocoa, Fla.; Andrew Hochhalter of Blythewood, and Gavin Potter of Central. The students broke up into groups of other young adults age 18-25 and set out on an adventure, going deeper into their relationship with God so they could pour out their lives for people in third-world countries and inner city America. Stegenga and Potter are serving as interns, having gone through The Experience before. For details, use the hashtags #kbminterns and  #kbmexperience or visit blogs from Jonathan and Gavin

Student Success Center

The Tutoring Center, under the direction of Martha Mishoe, student learning services coordinator, is now part of Student Life, effective today. This move is part of an effort to combine and coordinate a variety of services which support the academic endeavors of our students at Southern Wesleyan University under a unified Student Success Center. The Tutoring Center and its related services, such as writing coaches and supplemental instruction, will continue to provide essential assistance to students from its location on the second floor of the Rickman Library. The Student Success Center, under the guidance of Maggie Turner, director of community engagement, will combine iCare (the new and improved Early Alert), the Program for Athletic Student Success (PASS, a new initiative for Fall 2014) and the Tutoring Center in order to provide more effective and efficient services to our students. This realignment also will allow the Center for Transformational Learning to focus completely on its mission to support the faculty of the University.
