Do you have roots in the Great Prairie?

It's time to introduce the second sub-theme of our collaboration:  Agriculture and the Great Prairie.

Bob Komives grew up in St. Paul Minnesota, "scant miles from where the hardwood forests of the Northeast give in to the great North American Prairie."  Most of his relatives were farmers.  I --Gale (Mueller) Whitman -- grew up on a wheat farm in the once short-grass prairie of western Nebraska.  Bob and I both love our life in an old neighborhood in Fort Collins -- at the western edge of the great plain. The prairie, the farm, the small towns getting smaller are very much in our roots as people and artists.

This link takes you to a page with some of Bob's poems and some of my paintings that reflect these roots.

Perhaps the Good Day Project and our art-book will find kindred spirits among your friends, family, and colleagues.  Please consider forwarding this e-mail message to folks who have links and roots in the Great Prairie and/or agriculture.  We hope our images and poetry could resonate with them.

Thank you for the many ways you are supporting our efforts!

- Gale

[UPDATE: Our fundraising campaign for the Good Day Project on Community Funded continues to near our $5K goal: $3235 in donations as of 9:00pm Thursday.  Many thanks to everyone who has contributed online or given us a check!]
