Lesson 301: Loving God
Psa.36:7 NIV How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psa.138:2 NIV I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness
1 Cor.13:8 NIV Love never fails.
Before we can love God, we have to get to know Him. How? Look at Jesus. Read the Bible. God has told us a lot about Himself in His Word. His love never fails.
God is all-powerful. God is everywhere at the same time. He knows all things: past, present & future.
He knows our thoughts. He is in control (sovereign); he is holding the universe together. He controls history. Dan.9:25; Dan.11:1-35 God’s magnificent character draws us closer, so that we desire fellowship with Him.
If we think of God as a big monster waiting to crush us, we will have no desire to repent. But once we learn about God’s character, we won’t think of Him as a monster.
Seeing the beauty of His character beside the filth of our sin will motivate us to repent. Rom.2:4 God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
