Lesson 310: Alabaster Jar, Pt.4
Luke 7:48-50 Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
The woman received the forgiveness she desperately needed from Jesus. She was not forgiven because she anointed Jesus’ feet, but because of her faith.
He had already proven to the Pharisee that Jesus was a prophet; now Jesus claimed to be God. Only God can forgive sins. Mark 2:7
Our culture sees no value in repentance; they tell us to never admit that we are helpless.
And if anyone ever does admit their guilt, they look discouraged and defeated.
But believers who throw themselves on God’s mercy have a repentance that sings:
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow.”
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
