KATY MACKENZIELike Jump for Joy! Featuring Katy Mackenzie on Facebook

KATY MACKENZIE ...

From: I was born & raised in Vancouver. I just moved back downtown where all the action is!
Work: I’ve been working with Scotiabank for 15 years currently as Branch Manager.

Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
I love photography & had been looking to connect with photographers that share in the same passion. I came across your project and knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. My jump for joy photo was inspired by having taken back my life over the last year and truly being able to feel joy again.

Q. Jumping photo experience?
A:
The experience was outstanding! We were blessed with a sunny day, spattering of clouds (great for photos) and the beauty of Deep Cove.  I felt instantly comfortable & like a 12 year old girl running barefoot through the grass. Looks simple enough but it’s a workout!

Q: Inspiration in life?
A:
The people I choose to have in my life. This year I have been most inspired by those I know overcoming the hardest challenges in life: divorce, death and cancer. Watching them grow into stronger and more beautiful people as a result is inspiring.

Q: Greatest passion?
A:
Right now I'd say it’s my photography. It’s my only ‘artistic’ talent and its allowed me to connect with so many people on a completely different level. A camera opens doors & allows for the photographer to tell an otherwise ‘regular’ story in a whole new light or show what everyone else hasn't seen.

Q: Driving force?
A:
I want to reach out and ‘Touch' people. To engage people, challenge them & have a little fun while doing it! People are so disconnected today and whats worse is that most don't even recognize it.

Q: Philosophy?
A:
A little trouble never hurt anyone…lets see where the wind takes me! I’ve had the nickname Trouble following me around for years. I figure its just because I’m always the one dreaming up the crazy plans & dragging people along with me but it’s all good trouble.  All in aid of truly finding the inner child and allowing yourself to be fully engaged in life.

Q: Anything in the world?
A: Be a Mom!

Q. Working on?
A:
Last year I took a photography course and was looking for a project to work on. Life was not going as I had planned & I woke one morning to have it completely shattered. I chose to use photography as a way to find one thing each day that would get me to the next. Something that would make me smile, laugh or just simply see the world as better than it was at that time. The result…my 365 day photo project. What I ended up with is thousands of photos and even more amazing memories that I plan to share starting in July.
