Press Briefing on Millennium Development Goals Report 2014 on Monday, 7 July
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) have been the most successful global anti-poverty push in history. Since 2000, the world has come together to achieve historic results in fighting poverty and its consequences. Global poverty continues to decline. More children than ever are attending primary school. Child deaths have dropped dramatically. Access to safe drinking water has been greatly expanded. Targeted investments in fighting malaria, AIDS and tuberculosis have saved millions.

With the deadline for achieving the MDGs fast approaching, it is time to make a final push to deliver on the commitments made by world leaders in 2000. Bolder actions and focused interventions in areas where gaps exist are urgently needed.

The global launch of the Millennium Development Goals Report 2014 will take place at UN Headquarters on Monday, 7 July. The report is based on comprehensive official statistics and provides the most up-to-date summary of all Goals and their targets.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will launch the report at the opening of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC. A press briefing on the report will be held Monday, 7 July at 11am.
