EXCEED Happenings - June 2014

Inland Empire PossAbilities Team members finished their golf season with a party!!

Santa Fe (Hemet) ADC Happenings...

Our monthly Golf Clinic (offered by the Inland Empire PossAbilities and Golden Era Golf Course) ended this month with a fun pizza party and music.  In between all this extra fun, our clients are working hard and meeting their personal objectives daily.

The Adult Development Center in Hemet had an ‘Oldies but Goodies’ theme of the month.  During this month, we researched the different decades and what made them special, listened to oldies music, and visited a historical museum.

Our current theme of the month is ‘Weird Science’.  We all took a trip to Mr. Pennypickle’s Science Museum in Temecula and saw some wonderful science experiments with bubbles and soap.

Santa Fe (Hemet) WAC Happenings...

Our WAC program is working on 5 different contracts.  We just complete 90,000 pieces for a Southern California labeling company and today received 75,000 pieces from another labeling company.

We are going to have our annual BBQ the last week of July, 2014.

Transportation services is currently transporting 83 clients from our nearby cities.

Sack's Thrift Avenue East, our thrift store is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Perris ADC Happenings...

The new theme this month is Zoology and the staff and clients are really getting excited about decorating for the theme and the community outing ideas.  So far, we have visited the little zoo at Oak Glen, the Animal Haven, and two reptile stores.  The new water park opened up down the street from us and a group of clients went to spend the afternoon during their Special Abilities Day.  EXCEED is looking into getting a Season Pass so we can take advantage of the wonderful water opportunity in our own back yard.

Perris WAC Happenings...

We have placed 2 more clients in supported employment jobs in June, bringing our total this year to 13.  We have appointments in July to sign up 2 more  for DOR services.  We have our evaluations in progress, and the Supported Employment Target group has now reached 23 clients.  We are looking forward to getting most of them into jobs this next fiscal year.

Supported Employment Happenings...

Our progress towards putting together a team of clients for several needs in the Ontario area is quickly becoming a reality. Thanks to IRC counselors we have identified two out of three clients that will be part of one of the teams. It is refreshing to be able to approach IRC with community/employer needs and see their staff spring into action to help identify appropriate candidates for these teams. A huge thank you to all the counselors involved in this endeavor

Casa del Valle Happenings...

We still have 2 openings (1 female, 1 male).  Clients enjoyed outings to a Storm baseball game and The Aquatic Center.

ESA/PVSA

We are very glad to have Michelle Roddam back from her leave and are happy to announce Sherry Alvarez gave birth to baby Sasha, Sunday 6/22, 7lb. 15 oz. Sherry will be out on leave for a while.

The clients gave a thank you certificate to Magdaleno Flores, who heads up the golf instructor team.

Big party for the end of golf season.  Thank you, Golden Era Golf Course.

Cupcakes were the dessert of the day at the end-of-season golf party.

Scotty celebrates his excellent putting skills at the party.

Nothing better than celebrating a skill well learned.

Our wonderful teachers - the golf pros who are the heartbeat of the Inland Empire PossAbilities.

Golden Era Golf Course provides their beautiful 9 hole course for free so that the wonderful golf teachers can work one-on-one with our Hemet ADC clients.

Fun to learn golf in such a beautiful place!
