Big Dance Week Starts this Saturday!
 
Big Dance Week, 5-13 July, is an outstanding programme of specially commissioned dance events taking place across England led by the Big Dance Hubs and the Foundation for Community Dance.    
    
Dancefest is leading Big Dance in the West Midlands this year, and we kick off on Saturday with Accelerate at Artrix as part of their New Generation Festival, followed by performances for all ages in Worcester, Hereford, Bromsgrove, Malvern and Ledbury, many of which are free!

Sightseers 



Accelerate
7.30pm Saturday 5 July
AccelerateArtrix, Bromsgrove

Performances include solos by Shelley Haden and Rob Ferguson, returning from Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Trinity Laban, Flexus and Fidget from Wolverhampton, Elevate and 2 Faced Youth from Hereford, W’ire and Urban Boys from Worcester, and W’inc from Bromsgrove. £7 (£5 concessions), family ticket £20 

Worcestershire Dancing
7pm, Monday 7 July
Artrix, Bromsgrove
Dance performances by county schools and colleges, including Aston Fields Middle, Bishop Perowne, Christopher Whitehead, Nunnery Wood and North Bromsgrove High, St Georges C of E, Northwick Manor and Stanley Road Primary, Kidderminster College, Worcester College of Technology and Worcester Sixth Form College. 
£6.50/£4.50 concessions, family ticket £20

Worcs DancingGold Star
2pm and 5pm,Wednesday 9 July

Whitecross High School, Hereford
Open-air performance by dancers from
 Whitecross High, Leintwardine, Bredenbury, Ivington, Shobdon, St Peters, Kingsland, and Kingstone and Thruxton Primary Schools and Elevate Youth Dance Company. £3
 
Lovely Bugs
1.30pm, Thursday 10 July
Gheluvelt Park, Worcester

Lovely Bugs spins a tale of dangerously different bugs on a quest. Set on a spectacular 6m high dome rig and giant spider’s web, with music and rhyme, the audience are invited to make it rain on Incy, deliver Ladybird’s shopping and to ‘have-a-go’ on the ropes after the show. Free
 
IN Fused
7pm, Friday 11 JulyIN Fused
The Kindle Centre, Hereford
Inclusive performance by disabled and non-disabled dancers, actors and musicians. Compèred by The Courtyard’s Ellie Teesdale, with dance by Jigsaw Performance Group and Living Book Theatre Company, choreographed by Lauren Glendinning, accompanied by funky beats by Yam Jams and DJ Lofty. £4/£3 concessions

Sightseers
1pm and 4pm, Saturday 12 July
1pm, Rose Bank Gardens, Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern
 
4pm at Ledbury Poetry Festival at The Walled Garden (off Church Street)
Sightseers come armed with phones, maps, bags, drinks, umbrellas, picnics....Sightseers are seven different playful, pop up performances.

David McKenna, Artistic Director of Beingfrank Physical Theatre, has worked with dance artists in each of the West Midlands counties, who have then developed their own performances with groups from their local communities. 

Our colleagues around the region will be Sightseeing in Birmingham, Telford, Walsall, Lichfield and Coventry. F
