Samyak

Religious Mono Role Play Competition

Pranam all Sadharmik parents,

MSJS has always encouraged young children to learn and practice Jain religion and its fundamental principles which help prepare themselves for better future.

Since last three years during all major events, MSJS has also taken opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge gained by young children in Pathshala by way of individual or group activity and/or competition.

Considering overwhelming participation, success of such stage activity for young children and encouragement it gave to our young ones, this year Paryushan committee has also decided to provide the same opportunity again to our young kids.

This Paryushan, we would like to encourage our young children to participate in Samyak - Religious Mono Role Play competition. Participation in this competition will encourage your child to learn and explain Jainism history, life of Tirthankar Bhagwan, well known Sadhu & Sadhviji Bhagwant, Shravak & Shravika.

The participant child can prepare a small Mono Role Play or autobiography of Religious character based on Jain Story or any other Jainism related material and present this on the stage to audience. The performance should be no longer than 2 minutes.  As an evaluation criteria, the participants are expected to be dressed appropriately to portray the character and play the role with expression. Parents are welcomed to introduce their younger child (preferably <5 years) to audience, as needed.

For example:
- a boy can be dressed like Jagdusha and tell a story about what Jagdusha did in religious life.
- a girl can dress like Chandanbala and speak about how Chandanbala handled the tough situation expressing her faith on Jain Dharma.

This competition will be for children in three age groups as below:
  1. 3 to 5 years
  2. 6 to 9 years
  3. 10 to 16 years
The stage performance will take place on the Parana weekend during Paryushan.

As a token of appreciation each child will be presented with a small participation gift and the best 3 performances will be awarded with prizes. All parents should encourage their children to take part in this activity, as it will be a good learning experience to boost their confidence.

Due to time limitations, only limited number of kids would be able to perform and that would be strictly based  on first come first serve bases. Last minute entry will NOT be encouraged.

To register the interest, parents need to bring your child to Pathshala session this Sunday i.e. 6th July, 2014. Each of the child will be offered with a character by picking up a chit of Religious Male/Female character in the Pathshala session.

Should you have any query or need any further information, please feel free to email on Pathshala@msjs.org.au or see Hiren Shah after Pathshala session.

Regards,
MSJS Paryushan Committee 2014
