Dear Prayer Warriors,

Thank you for your support of God’s work here in Peru.  We are currently getting settled in to a bigger home and thank God for the added space and for the opportunity to use our home as a place of further ministry here in Urubamba.  Here are some updated prayer requests for you!

Seminary Missions Trip  Every year the seminary students that we work with split up on different missions teams during the semester break to evangelize other parts of Cusco and the surrounding districts putting into practice the things they have learned in their classes.  Last year, Eric helped translate for a medical team in the jungle region. This year from July 11th to the 20th our entire family will be heading up a 10 day missions trip with four of the seminary students to the city of Abancay. We will be helping out at a young church plant with Pastor Jaime Ttica.  Some scheduled events the students will be involved in are church services, youth meeting, open air evangelism, and a 3 day Bible club for children.  Please pray for safety, wisdom, and the leading of the Holy Spirit as we head out.

Evangelist Randy Chovan  We are thrilled to have Randy Chovan with us for a month or so as he travels to different parts of Cusco and a few other departments preaching the Word!  Eric is in charge of scheduling his meetings and acting as official translator.  Until the 11th Randy is teaching a class on Judaism at the seminary (with Eric translating) and we praise the Lord for the work being done through him during the evangelistic campaigns and meetings being held here.

Discipleship  In June, Eric assigned the more faithful members of our discipleship classes to begin discipling other church members one-on-one.  It is exciting to see this second generation of disciplers grow in their commitment to teaching others also. (2 Timothy 2:2).  Please pray for faithfulness to God’s command and initiative on the part of other believers.

Seminary class in Puno  Apart from the Baptist seminary here in Urubamba there is a Training Center for lay pastors in Puno that has invited Eric to come during the first week of August to teach a course on Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship.  The course will run for 5 days, 6 or 7 hours each day and will cover a 300 page text book!  Please pray for wisdom on how to best prepare these men for the ministry.

As you enjoy the warm summer over there, please pray for our family here in Peru!

Awana club  One series of meetings held by Evangelist Chovan was during the high school chapel here at Heroes of the Faith Christian School.  During the week of meetings at least five salvation decisions were made and several of those teens attend our J.V. Awana club on Wednesday nights.  With an adjusted schedule this year we are seeing more teens attending and desire to have more of an evangelistic impact in the community.

Family update  We finally got most of our paperwork drama worked out.  We are now all in the country legally and are awaiting Gabriela’s Peruvian documents in order to have everything up to date.  There is one error that we need to fix for Joshua’s Peruvian document but we must wait on paperwork from the states in order to begin that process.  Casandra will begin homeschooling again in August after we return from our trip to Abancay.  She is discipling two ladies in addition to the ladies discipleship class on Thursday nights, and is also teaching a few piano lessons, playing the piano at church, and continues to supervise the preschool teacher at our church’s Christian school. Last, but not least, she is enjoying all of the space available in our new house and is working on ways to best use our resources for Christ.
