Robbie O'Brien

We are already in July and the guitars just keep rolling off the benches at O'Brien Guitars. Students from all over the world come to my shop and in 8 days build and finish their guitars. They go home with a ton of information, a guitar, bragging rights and a great learning experience. Here are some photos of the last few students.

Recently I have been using a shellac based product that when fully cured makes a strong durable finish similar to a polyester but still has the look and feel of shellac. Here is a video that shows me applying this finish to a bird's eye maple guitar recently built at the O'Brien Guitars workshop by a student. There is a coupon code at the end of the video for those wanting to try the product.

Next week I am leaving for Brazil where with Brazilian luthier, Luciano Borges, I will be teaching 20 students how to build a classical guitar. We did this last year and it was such a success that we decided to do it again this year.

In August I hit the ground running again with the Copper Mountain Guitar Town event where I will be showing my work and then the teaching starts again with two more students coming in the second half of August for their private guitar building classes.

Finally, fingerstyle guitarist, Jim Deeming, recently recorded some tunes on his O'Brien Guitars OM model cutaway. Here is a video of the recording session.

Enjoy the rest of the Summer!

If you can't come to my shop for a building class then my online courses are a very close second to actually being here with me in my shop.

Remember that I have a ton of free information and videos as well as my online guitar building courses available on my website.

If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.
Thank you,
Robbie O'Brien
