I am thrilled to share with you the exciting plans we have for our 10th anniversary Canstruction event on Saturday, September 20th. It is my pleasure to invite you to an evening filled with good food and great fun as Miss Kay Robertson from A&E’s Duck Dynasty will be our keynote speaker to share her thoughts on faith, family and food.
Miss Kay is the matriarch of the Duck Commander family and A&E's most-watched reality television show, Duck Dynasty. What she says goes. She was 16 when she married Phil and since then she’s been keeping him and the boys from spending too much time in the woods, bringing them back to civilization each night with a home cooked meal. Miss Kay believes her cooking talents are a gift which she must share, so she often ends up feeding all of the family and most of the neighborhood.
Teams of local businesses, churches, industries and schools will build the structures on September 19th with the awards banquet on September 20th starting at 5pm with Miss Kay as the keynote speaker.
Tickets are $50 per person, $400 per table of 8 and balcony tickets are $25 per person. Tickets can be purchased at www.rifajackson.org/misskay or call RIFA at 731.427.7963.
Canstruction is a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed the hungry. Competing teams showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibition, all of the food used in the structures is donated to the RIFA Food Bank to distribute to other nonprofits in the Jackson-Madison County area. Canstruction is RIFA’s signature event and provides food and funds as well as raises awareness about the issue of hunger in our community.
