Come and join the Koch-Young Resource Center for a monthly play day for children birth to 2 years of age and their parents. Enjoy access to KYRC toys and play equipment, while getting to know other families.

The play days will be held on the following days at Lanterman Regional Center:

  • Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This presentation with Attorney Pat Huth, on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at AbilityFirst, will cover the following topics:

  • The definition and types of conservatorship
  • The right to consent or withhold consent to medical treatment
  • The right to enter into contracts
  • The right to make decisions concerning education
  • What is a special needs trust and how it benefits you and your son/daughter with a developmental disability
  • What is a will with special needs trust
  • Will the Special Needs Trust have an impact on SSI, Medi-Cal, or IHSS

Puberty Periods and Everything Else In Between Flyer

The Cycle Girls and their team of women physicians will provide training on personal care and hygiene for Lanterman female clients between the ages of 12 and 17 on Wednesdays, August 13 and 20 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lanterman.

Educational Outline

  • Puberty: how and why it happens
  • Periods 101: Everything you need to know about starting your period and caring for yourself during your period
  • Hygiene: How to care for your body and the importance of personal hygiene
  • Healthy Mind, Healthy Decisions: How to keep your body healthy and the importance and impact health makes on your life

Clients Only - No Parents

Seating is limited. Register by August 8, 2014. As this is a two-part training held on consecutive Wednesdays, by registering for the first day, you will also be registered for the second day of training.

Please note that signed parental consent forms must be on file with Lanterman Regional Center prior to the first class starting on August 13. Consent forms can be accessed online at http://lanterman.org/uploads/training_lanterman/Cycle_Girls_Consent_Aug2014.pdf.

Esta presentacion, el 3 de septiembre de 2014, de 10 a.m. a 12 p.m. en Lanterman, es para padres de adolescentes y adultos jovenes con Dr. Nora Baladerian, Ph.D, Certified Sex Therapist, y provee respuestas a las siguientes preguntas que tienan los padres:

  • ¿Cómo puedo tener una conversación abierta acerca de la sexualidad y cambios hormonales?
  • ¿Cómo puedo mantener a mi hijo/a sano y consciente de límites?
  • ¿Debería discutir anticoncepción y sera que mi hijo/a entienda? 
  • ¡Oh no! Mi hijo/a quiere tener sexo, ¿qué puedo hacer?
