Montana Given Real
ID Extension
The Department of Homeland Security is giving Montana until October 2015 to comply with the Real ID Act. The DHS said the state had reached several benchmarks in licenses, but it could not determine if the state was complying with other provisions. The Montana Legislature in 2007 had unanimously voted to forbid implementation of the Real ID Act, but has bolstered its license security without the mandate.

U.S. President Barack Obama is calling for an "immediate ceasefire" between Israel and Hamas. The UN Security Council has expressed concern for the growing number of causalities in Gaza and has issued a fresh appeal for an immediate ceasefire. The Palestinian death toll continues to rise. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blamed the civilian casualties on Hamas using innocents "as human shields".
