aGLIFF is excited and proud to announce the festival's opening night film, "Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine," Wednesday, September 10th. Joining us for this special evening are Matthew's parents, Judy and Dennis, and director Michele Josue to share their stories and experiences.
aGLIFF27 is quickly approaching and we can't help ourselves - we MUST show you another round of teaser film previews. The festival's full line-up will release in early August and we have several events you won't want to miss as we build-up to the festival. It's not that we're the biggest ticket(s) in town; it's that we're humble too.

Prepare your calendars for September 10th - 14th, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. It's not too late to invite your friends to join us by becoming badge holders and members and celebrate aGLIFF's 27 years of pride, film and culture. "We're not an audience, we're a community," and we look forward to seeing you at the movies.

OUT IN THE NIGHT (w/special guests present) - AUSTIN PREMIERE

In 2006, seven African-American lesbians were enjoying an evening in Manhattan's West Village when one of them was sexually harassed by a young man. The women defended their friend and left the man hospitalized with a minor injury. Quickly, the women were labeled "lesbian gang members" and eventually given severe prison sentences. "Out in the Night"  takes on this nightmarish case, teeming with racial and sexual prejudice. The result is both harrowing and inspirational.

THE RUGBY PLAYER (w/director Scott Gracheff present) - TEXAS PREMIERE

Winner of multiple festival awards, "The Rugby Player" is an uplifting and stereotype-shattering documentary that tells the story of a mother, a son, and what it takes to be a hero. The film explores the lives of Mark Bingham, one of the passengers on United Flight 93 on 9/11, and his mother, Alice Hoagland, a former United Airlines flight attendant. Utilizing footage shot by Bingham himself, this timely film provides keen insights for the national debates on LGBT rights, marriage equality and gay athletes in sports.
