Residents often tell me that they support efforts to crack down on crime and this public hearing is a way for you to listen to the issues raised and provide input based on your experience.
The committee will hold its Sunshine Coast hearing at Mooloolaba on Wednesday, July 30. I invite you to attend and observe, or appear as a witness.
The inquiry will examine trends and types of criminal activity in Queensland; social and economic contributors to crime; Queenslanders’ experiences with the criminal justice system and the effectiveness of crime prevention strategies, including imprisonment, justice reinvestment and early intervention.
The Committee is keen to hear Queenslanders’ views before it reports to the House by 31 October 2014.
Those who wish to attend the forum, to be held at Mooloolaba Surf Club from 10.45am, Wednesday July 30, either as a witness or to observe, must phone (07) 3406 7307 or email lacsc@parliament.qld.gov.au ahead of the event.
Alternatively, don’t hesitate to call my office on 07 5478 1189.
Best wishes,
Jarrod
