Introducing our new Support and Options Worker Helina Majid

My name is Helina and I am new to Genesis as a Support and Options worker to help and support service users in making positive changes in a way best suited to the individuals' needs and hopes. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2006 where I studied Law & Criminology (BA Hons). After this, I worked in the public sector for five years, including the Ministry of Justice in Nottingham and Children & Family Court Support & Advisory Service in Leeds, before leaving to join the voluntary sector in 2011. I worked as a Caseworker for a national charity for irregular migrants and asylum seekers until April 2014, when I took up the post with Genesis.
 

The Student Sex Work Project

Rosie Campbell Genesis CEO is part of the external evaluation team for The Student Sex Work Project funded by the Big Lottery Wales.  On 25th July she participated in the student sex work project policy group meeting.  Now in it's final year the project aims to promote learning and understanding about student sex worker needs. Spaces and Places Available?

As the summer holidays begin the challenge for us at Isis, is where to meet young people.  As many of our clients are school age, we tend to have many appointments in school as they are able to provide a confidential space.  However; during the 6 week break, it becomes increasingly difficult to continue to engage these young people, as it is often not appropriate to have sessions at home. This then leads me to our begging question.Does anybody know of, or able to offer us access to a safe space where we could book a room to meet with our clients free of charge. Any recommendations will be greatly received.
