 'WE REFUSE TO BE ENEMIES'

Declaration of the Vision Camp of Israeli, Palestinian and global peacemakers held July 24 - 29 in the West Bank. Photo: 'Sorry' spelled in candles at a sister vigil in Tel Aviv.

"As peaceworkers from Israel, Palestine and various other parts of the world, we have been holding a peace vigil in the middle of a war in the West Bank over the last several days. We are gathering here under very simple conditions, creating community life, sharing from our hearts, in silence and in tears, in the midst of shootings and bombings. She has frequented this store and its Kosher section since moving closer to work, happy to find a place that sells food that she can eat, since food from “ahalal kitab” or “people of the book” is considered halal, or permissible for Muslims to eat. At first she thought it was her post-work appearance that  Read more...

Two major, often opposing threads have lingered as the interfaith movement has grown: How much should interfaith partners keep the focus on shared beliefs and values, instead of discussing and debating contrasting world views?
