The Moody Church: Celebrating the
Joy of Changed Lives for 150 Years

During her years in seminary, Angie had the pleasure of serving in the singles group and the missions program at The Moody Church (TMC) in Chicago.  She was mentored by godly older saints, including wonderful, seasoned missionaries Don and Alene Dix (who served in Congo for many years and now serve the church and African refugees in the Chicagoland area).  When the Lord brought us together as a couple, we were overjoyed that TMC came alongside us to send us out to the foreign mission field.  We don’t have any relatives in Chicago, and many of our old friends have moved to other parts of the country (and globe!).  But each home assignment, we have the privilege of reporting to our beloved church family of what the Lord has been doing in Senegal through their generous gifts and prayers.

Now, although half way around the globe, we are celebrating the Lord’s faithfulness in preserving TMC for 150 years.  Think of how many churches were founded a century and a half ago, and how few of them still proclaim the eternal truth of salvation in Christ alone.  Praise God for His grace in preserving this wonderful church in the heart of Chicago.  To read more about the history of TMC, click here.  And to see a video about the legacy of TMC missionaries Don & Alene Dix, click here.

An Addition to the Family
Bruce & Cindy McMartin

“And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times more in this life, and in the age to come eternal life.” (Luke 18:29-30)

We can attest to the fact that we have received many brothers, sisters, children, and parents since we answered the call to serve the Lord overseas.  We still miss our family in America like crazy, but the spiritual family the Lord has given us here has been a source of tremendous joy as we carry one another’s burdens while seeking to advance Christ’s Kingdom in a faraway land.  While living life with our Crossworld team, we’ve shared the birth of two daughters (The Flintoffs’ little Phoebe and our Evangeline), the adoption of another (The Amenudzies’ bringing Marie into their home), the union of Sheri and Cyrille, the addition of sweet Lori Neid, and most recently, the arrival of Bruce and Cindy McMartin.

After training leaders in Haiti with Crossworld for over 30 years, and after leading several short term missions teams from Haiti to Senegal, the McMartins sensed the Lord calling them to join our young team in Senegal.  What we expected was a competent set of colleagues.  What we got is a wonderful set of adoptive grandparents for Isabella and Evangeline, not to mention mentors in ministry for us.  Join us in praying for the unity and strength of our team, and for the McMartins in particular as they adapt to a new culture for the second time.
