Bette Midler, Gary Shteyngart,
& One of the Most Amazing Stories

Videos from the 2014 Literacy Partners Gala

I wanted to share some highlights from our recent Gala. The event was a big success filled with laughter, music, and inspiration.

Legendary performer Bette Midler started things off by reading from her re-released memoir, A View from a Broad. Then best-selling author Gary Shteyngart had the audience laughing with excerpts from his newest book, Little Failure.

But the highlight of the readings was Beverly Jenkins, a Literacy Partners student, who read an autobiographical essay.  If you have ever wondered why someone drops out of school and what might become of them, click the link.  It is one of the most amazing stories I have ever heard.

Thanks to Bette, Gary, and Beverly for sharing their stories with all of us.

Sincerely,

Anthony Tassi
