Middle School Survival Strategies
Sept 15th - Dec 15th
Mondays 4:30-5:30
$250*
6th, 7th, 8th Grades

Does your child face challenges with behavior issues at school? Does he or she have difficulty getting along with students, teachers, and other adults? Middle School Survival Strategies can help! During this weekly group your child will work to better understand the motivations behind their behaviors and learn how to handle difficult situations in the school setting. Through group exercises, life scripting, and problem-solving students will learn the skills necessary to be successful at school and avoid disciplinary actions.

Sessions led by Laura Aldridge-Vacheresse, MSW. Laura has a Masters of Social Work and is experienced in pediatric behavioral health.

Seeing Red: Anger Management and Peacemaking
Dates TBA
$250*
3rd, 4th, 5th Grades

Does your child's anger affect their behavior and make it difficult for them to act appropriately in school? Does he or she have trouble keeping friends and communicating with teachers and administrators? At Seeing Red, your child will learn to better understand their anger, enabling them to make healthy, successful choices in school and build strong relationships. Through role playing, identifying feelings, and problem solving, children will learn to recognize negative behaviors and anticipate consequences, helping them to manage their feelings and increase self-esteem. Sessions will meet for 1 hour on a weekly basis, dates TBA.

Splish, Splash! Fun in the Pool!

We can't believe that summer is almost over and school starts in a matter of weeks! Here are some fun pool time activities to help your child cool off and enjoy the rest of the summer, while working on sensory, fine, and gross motor skills!
  • Go fishing by adding 3 ingredient Slippery Fish to your kiddie pool. The fish are taste-safe for those who like to nibble! Skills addressed: sensory and fine motor
  • Be a shark with Melissa & Doug's Spark Shark Fish Hunt! Skills addressed: gross motor and hand-eye coordination
  • Swim for letters with a "munchy" ball. You can even make your own out of an old tennis ball! Skills addressed: hand strength, fine motor

Fall Social Skills Sessions



Help your child develop and practice social skills in this fun and engaging environment! Social games, activities, role-playing, group exercises, and discussions will be used to promote age-appropriate peer interaction. Sessions meet once a week and are led by a licensed therapist. Groups will not meet on dates that fall on Hamilton County School Year holidays.

Welcome, Laura, to our Stellar Clinic Team!

Laura is a native of East Tennessee, who received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Before joining Stellar, Laura began her career at the Tennessee Department of Children's Services where she worked with delinquent teens and Monroe County Schools where she provided mental health counseling to students. Laura is excited to join the Stellar team, and we are excited to have her! She will be leading two new group sessions this fall: Middle School Survival Strategies and Seeing Red: Anger Management and Peacemaking.

Tennessee Family Survey


Parents and Caregivers of children or adults with an intellectual disability, autism, or other developmental disability are encouraged to take part in an important survey focused on the expectations and support needs of parents led by the TennesseeWorks Partnership. This survey will be used to develop free trainings and resources for families across the state. Everyone who completes the survey will be entered to win a $25 gift card.
