Tout ce qu’il faut savoir sur l’avant-première canadienne de 20,000 Days on Earth au Centre Phi.

Tout le monde sait déjà que Nick Cave sera au Centre Phi le 1er août.

Tout le monde sait déjà aussi que le Centre Phi y présentera, en collaboration avec Phi Films, Drafthouse Films, Films We Like et Osheaga, l’avant-première canadienne du film 20,000 Days on Earth, ce film doublement primé au Festival du film de Sundance et considéré comme le buzz de la dernière Berlinale.

Et tout le monde sait enfin que la projection sera suivie d’un échange avec la légende du rock, échange au cours duquel Nick Cave – dans une rare performance solo au piano – jouera quelques morceaux choisis à même son vaste répertoire.
 
Mais ce que personne ne sait, c’est que cet échange entre Nick Cave et son public sera animé par Christopher Roberts, directeur de NXNE.

20,000 Days on Earth
20,000 Days on Earth est une incursion de 24 heures dans la vie de Nick Cave, musicien et icône culturelle internationale. Mêlant la fiction et la réalité, le film se veut une représentation intime du processus artistique qui s’adresse autant aux mélomanes qu’à la communauté artistique et aux cinéphiles. Et c’est Nick Cave et son complice des Bad Seeds, Warren Ellis, qui signent la musique.

Phi Films

Nick Cave
Né en Australie, Nick Cave est à la fois un auteur-compositeur-interprète, un scénariste, un romancier et un poète, de même que le chanteur mythique du groupe Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds présentement en tournée mondiale.
 
Christopher Roberts
Natif d’Ottawa (Ontario), Christopher a passé neuf ans chez VICE média à New York à titre de directeur des relations avec les artistes, avant de revenir au Canada en 2013 en tant que directeur du Festival NXNE. Pendant ses années chez VICE, il a participé à la programmation et à l’organisation d’événements d’avant-garde partout dans le monde, tel que The Creators au Festival Coachella en 2011, le Festival SCION Garage Rock présent dans plusieurs villes, et le projet VICELAND, devenu un immense succès, présenté lors du Festival SXSW 2013.

Le Centre Phi
Le Centre Phi, c’est des salles qui se transforment au gré des activités: lancement, conférence, colloque, projection, exposition, concert, spectacle, installation interactive. C’est des studios de création et de production, avec la technologie la plus sophistiquée, mise au service des besoins artistiques. C’est un centre multifonctionnel où l’art peut s’exprimer dans tous ses états. Et c’est surtout un lieu d’échanges, d’apprentissage, de découverte, de lancement, de tournage, d’enregistrement, etc.

Everybody already knows that Nick Cave will be at the Phi Centre on August 1.
 
Everybody knows that the Phi Centre, in collaboration with Phi Films, Drafthouse Films, Films We Like and Osheaga will present 20,000 Days on Earth, a film internationally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and which was the talk of the festival at the last Berlinale.
 
Everybody also knows that the screening will be followed by an intimate exchange with the legendary rock icon, during which Nick Cave, in a rare solo piano performance, will play a few choice selections from his vast repertory.
 
But what nobody knew until now, is that this public conversation with Nick Cave will be animated by Christopher Roberts,  Director of NXNE.

20,000 Days on Earth
Fusing cinematic drama with reality by weaving a fictitious 24-hour journey through the life of musician and international cultural icon Nick Cave, the film is an intimate portrayal of the artistic process that speaks volumes to music fans, the art community and movie lovers alike. The film is set to an original score by Nick Cave and fellow Bad Seeds band mate Warren Ellis.

Nick Cave
Born in Australia, Nick Cave is a writer/composer/performer as well as an acclaimed film score composer, screenplay writer, novelist and occasional actor. He is also the enigmatic lead singer of the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, currently on a world tour.

Christopher Roberts
Originally from Ottawa, ON, Christopher spent nine years as the Head of Artist Relations for VICE Media in New York, before returning to Canada to take on the role of Director of NXNE in 2013. While at VICE he helped curate and stage groundbreaking events including The Creators Project at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2011, the multi-city SCION Garage Rock Festival, and the hugely successful VICELAND project at SXSW 2013.

The Phi Centre
