Last Days of Summer!

Our summer festival season was a huge success and we thank our City Councillors, City of Toronto, sponsors, performers, artists, programming partners and volunteers for all their support. We look forward to furthering our community collaboration next summer, celebrating the Pan Am & Parapan American Games.

Back to school is around the corner and NYA is busy prepping its fall season with various new programs and events that will be announced in the September newsletter to support visual artists, songwriters and musicians. Stay tuned!

And remember to register your event for Culture Days for September 26-28. Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. See more details below.

Everyone is encouraged to get involved – whether you are a professional or amateur cultural creator (artist, artisan, educator, animateur, historian, curator, choreographer, architect, designer, to name a few), municipality, library, group or organization in an urban, suburban or rural community – you can play a part in Culture Days.

This is an open invitation for all individuals, organizations, groups and municipalities to register free interactive arts or cultural activities in your community during the next Culture Days on September 26, 27 & 28, 2014.

Toronto Arts Foundation is hiring a part time Online Learning Coordinator to work with the Neighbourhood Arts Network, two days a week. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years relevant employment experience with direct experience and knowledge of Toronto’s community engaged arts sector.

Contemporary Art Show
Artists Call for Entry!

January 2, 2015 to March 6, 2015

Cedar Ridge Creative Centre is a vibrant cultural hub in East Toronto, located within beautiful gardens and a park. Each year the gallery is committed to showing contemporary art, featuring artists anchored in the present. All contemporary artists and crafts people in Ontario working in two or three dimensional media are invited to apply and both individual and group shows are eligible.

Application Deadline: Friday September 5, by 12 noon.

SpaceFinder has been launched to support cultural organizations find and rent space. Arts organizations are encouraged to register their spaces so people who are looking for space can find their match. The great news is registration on SpaceFinder Toronto is free!

The website will have its official launch in November this year.

NYA Talks To is a monthly segment as part of our newsletter to profile a North York artist, arts organization or community leader in order to highlight their exceptional work within the North York community.

This month, NYA Talks To Dylan Cohen, the newest member of our Fundraising Sub-Committee. Dylan is an aspiring fundraiser for the arts and an accomplished artist in his own right from songwriting to music production to visual art.
