WHO WEARS SHORT SHORTS....?
(evidently, I do)
It's true. For the first time in my adult life, I've bought shorts. 2 pair that are moderate in length and one that can definitely be defined as short shorts.

...I feel a bit like I'm walking around in my undiepants. Ooooh undiepants. Sexxxxxxxy.

yeah. they're probably about as sexy as the above giant daikon. And the face I'm making.

Why am I telling you this?

Because since writing this post, you've given me a lot to think about when it comes to "healthy". And since I chow down on my fair share of butter, cream and cheese, I've been going to the gym and being more active to be healthier and stronger. Yes, I've used the word healthy. You've changed my mind, my friends.

Thank you for helping me see the holistic, feel good version of the word. Not the scary anti-fat, anti-calorie, anti-real food, anti-body co-optation by the scary facist industrial food complex. You've changed my mind and really, my life. And the first thing I wanted to say to you - before I give you the goods of the newsletter - is thank you. Sincerely.

Seriously. I've talked about Ashley before but this week, she's written an article on her blog LoveWhatYouEat.ca that we should all read. It came at the perfect time too because I had just read another friend's comments on a blog post about her fear - or at least the troubling anxiety - in which we police ourselves and each other with respect to what counts as real food, and what doesn't.

2 Weeks ago I asked you what you do with your weird-ass vegetables. While some of you told me, a few of you responded with requests for other options. So here you go.

I'm STILL not gonna lie... Occasionally weird-ass vegetables end up in the compost. And if I'm feeling particularly grumpy.... Sometimes the garbage. But that's only because if I hid them under the rug someone might notice.

But you don't care about my bad habits.. I wanna hear about yours! Or even your good ones.

For the love of god, clean your BBQ.

I just cleaned mine for the first time since I got it (2 Summers of cooking and 2 years in storage) and it was disgusting.

Not only will your food taste better (because how can a dish taste great when it's marinating in old, burnt, crusty food smoke) but it reduces the risk of fire AND it makes you feel totally BA (that's bad ass) to do it.

P.S. The same feeling comes from owning your own power tools and making good choices. Like to wear short shorts and own that shit.
