Dear Wesley families,
For the past several weeks, we have been thinking about a more effective way to conduct Orientation for new and returning families. Based on much of the feedback we’ve received, there has been an expressed desire for the school to organize a self-directed and self-managed process.
We’ve listened and have designed a new process that better accommodates your interests and needs. This year, Summer Orientation will be conducted as an informational fair – a gallery of sorts, where focused attention can be given to the things that matter most to our parent community.
Accordingly, we want to avail ourselves to answer all of your questions, satisfy your needs, and make certain that you are adequately prepared for the start of the school-year. We also want to be respectful of your time and busy schedules by keeping flexible hours.

WIA Orientation 2014:
An Informational Fair for New and Returning Families

July 30 and 31
Times:
8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., each day

Enrollment
Finalize enrollment; submit outstanding documents and other essentials
STATION #2
Nutrition
Receive and complete mandatory lunch forms; Become familiar with the new vendor and payment options
STATION #3
Medical Information
Submit and receive pertinent medical information
STATION #4
Logistics
Receive carpool numbers and learn more about the WIA carpool route and process
STATION #5
Aftercare
Learn more about aftercare and make necessary arrangements
STATION #6
PTSA
Meet PTSA members, join; purchase WIA PTSA memorabilia and more
STATION #7
Agendas and Lockers
Purchase student agendas and lockers and receive rules and expectations
STATION #8
Packet Pickup: Homerooms, Teacher Assignments, etc.
NOTE: Once you have visited each designated station, you will be able to use the information in your packet to identify your child’s homeroom teacher and stop by for a brief meet and greet. We respectfully ask that you reserve instructional, curriculum, and procedural questions for Open House.
2014-2015 WIA OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE
This year, Open House will be specifically organized to allow parents to become more familiar with their teacher(s), grade-level curriculum, plans for communication, grades, assessment, and other matters of importance.
For your convenience, we will have two separate coordinated times for each Open House session to accommodate parents who have children in different grades.
1st - 4th Grades
August 6, 2014
5:30p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
5th - 8th Grades
5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Kindergarten
August 13, 2014 @ 5:30 p.m.
