*Please note: We'd like to welcome Ron Schaefer to our volunteer team. He recently moved to Louisville from Michigan and is excited to begin volunteering here. He studied political science and hopes to use some of his knowledge to help students here.
What Happened Last Week?

*BLC students, staff and volunteers went bowling last Friday night at Ken Bowl. There were 14 people in attendance spread over three lanes. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to returning there soon!

* We had our largest crowd thus far at our weekly language exchange this past Wednesday. We had 30 participants - many of whom attended for the first time. If you're interested in participating, please let Amanda know. It will take place each Wednesday from 6:30 - 8 pm and is a great way to practice Spanish while helping someone else learn English.

An opportunity to help our students...
* We have at least 2 students who need assistance with basic literacy. If you are interested in tutoring a pre-literate student, please let us know.
* We're in the process of collecting donated auction items for our Ladies Day fundraiser. If you have any ideas for items, please let Sherry or Amanda know.
* We'll be sending out our summer newsletter in August. If you would like to write an article about a student who you have worked with or anything else you would like to share, please let us know!
* The BLC is looking for anyone who can donate candy items or sweets for our students that come into the center! Any individually wrapped candy treats are acceptable. We would very much appreciate it!

* Wednesday, July 30th - Ice Cream Social at the BLC (immediately following the language exchange)
* Friday, August 1 – Field trip to Bernheim Forest
* Thursday, August 7th: 6-8 pm - All-Volunteer Meeting and Dinner at the BLC

* Friday, August 15 – 6:30 - 10:30 pm - Field trip to Bats game & fireworks
