HABITAT HAPPENINGS

August 2014
Habitat Happenings is Ulster County Habitat for Humanity’s newsletter which provides highlights and/or updates of what is happening within the Habitat.  This newsletter will focus on three of our main initiatives:
  1. Building hope in Ulster County by rehabilitating houses or building new homes in established neighborhoods.
  2. Sales at the ReStore generate funds to build more homes in Ulster County, allowing more families in need the ability to purchase a simple decent affordable home.
  3. Volunteering is paramount to keeping us a successful and viable organization.   A couple hours a week is all it takes!  There are many ways individuals and groups can invest in your community including making a charitable donation, volunteering, serving on a committee, or donating to our ReStore.
Habitat for Humanity believes that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live
Our 12th home on Henry Street in Kingston is almost ready for our Habitat Family to move in.  Frost Valley YMCA volunteers are completing the landscaping and dedication scheduled for fall 2014.

We are making plans to break ground on our 13th home on East Chester Street in Kingston.  Help us by making a
charitable donation, or volunteering your expertise at the Build Site.  There is no such thing as too many volunteers!
The mission of the ReStore is to provide new and gently used home improvement materials, appliances, and furniture at affordable prices to everyone.  These quality items are sold to the general public at a fraction of retail prices.

ReStore Savings:

ReStore One Year Anniversary - To Be Announced
Ulster Habitat for Humanity staff hosted the first annual Volunteer Appreciation Day on June 24th at Robert Post Park. The volunteers have graciously donated their time and expertise to keeping the ReStore operating as a successful retail outlet, assisting in the Affiliate Office, at the Henry Street Build Site, and serving on a committees. We could not do it without them.

Check out the photo album on our facebook page. Thanks to Joanie Alley for capturing the day's highlights!
