You can support the work we do by donating money to us. You can donate up to £10 by text - all you need to do is text DRCT01 £5 (or £1, £2, £3, £4 or £10) to 70070. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to the July issue of Your Community, Your Planet! - on the Opening Day of the 20th Commonwealth Games - read on to find out more!

Our projects and services...

Kingsway Summer Games Day: we will be along at the Kingsway Summer Games Day on Fri 25 Jul with our cycle skills course so if you are looking for something to do woth the family then why not pop along!

Commonwealth Connections: we will be along at this fantastic, free, family fun day in Victoria Park on Sat 16 Aug from 1-4pm! Pop along and say hello!

Volunteers Needed: we are looking for volunteers to help out at the Commonwealth Connections event - get in touch if you fancy lending a hand!

Glasgow WAVE update: Joanna our Glasgow WAVE Volunteer Development Officer has secured a permanent job and has moved on to pastures new. We wish her well and we wil be re-advertising for the post in the near future so watch this space!

10th Birthday Celebrations: this year is our 10th birthday and we are just finalising things for a wee birthday party and our AGM - watch this space for more news soon! Woo hoo!!

Bike Hire scheme launch: we went along to the launch of the new NextBike bike hire scheme earlier in the month and despite the rain the scheme has got off to a great start!

LINKES Celebrate event: we had a great day at this event along at the LINKES Celebrate event - check out our photos!

Ditch the Dirt: we will be coordinating activity in the local area for this years Ditch the Dirt anti-dog fouling campaign which will run from 1 to 14 Sep - more info coming soon!

New litter strategy: the Scottish Government has published a new litter strategy - the first since devolution - a staggering 250 million bits of visible litter are dropped in Scotland each year so do your bit and pop litter in a bin!

Carrier Bag charge coming soon: the Government's carrier bag levy comes into force on October 20. Scotland currently uses 750 million bags every year – the highest number in the UK. A dedicated website has been set up to help you get prepared for the levy www.carrierbagchargescotland.org.uk

Air pollution damaging health: new analysis shows that air pollution is still a massive issue in Glasgow and that it's damaging our health!

Ladies Cycling Survey:  a Glasgow University student is researching why women cycle (or not) - if you've got a few minutes your support would be appreciated.

Whiteinch News newspaper: the first issue of The Whiteinch News a community based newspaper produced by volunteers at The Whiteinch Centre is hot off the press!

Winner in Whitench!: Congratulations to Julita Hanlon the Business Development Manager at The Whiteinch Centre for winning Jobs and Business Glasgow's Social Entrepreneur of the Year award!

Road closures and travel planning: there will be several road closures and change to the local road network during the Commonwealth Games including in the Scotstoun area
