Last month, we were thrilled to announce
legendary human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell as the first Proud2Be Patron.
Peter has shown unwavering support to the project since its inception in 2011. He has recorded his own Proud2Be video, attended the launch and was guest of honour at Totnes Pride 2013 where he opened the event with a speech and took part in the live panel discussion.
Talking about his support for Proud2Be Peter Said:
“I’m very proud to be a Proud2Be patron. Congratulations on your wonderful work for the LGBT community. Much admiration and appreciation”
On the 5th of this month, we hosted the second Totnes Pride Disco Fundraiser at The Barrel House in Totnes, South Devon. It was a great night with a DJ set and visual projections from Madame Souza and Lady Macadie. There were bubbles, rainbows, fairy lights and lots of dancing. the listening project
The Listening Project is a partnership between BBC Radio and the British Library. Project founders Mat & Jon were asked to contribute to the fantastic initiative and they were thrilled to oblige. The result is a heartwarming dialogue between the brothers; speaking honestly with one another about their experiences of being gay and being identical twins. You can listen to the unedited version HERE.
This years event will be held on
Saturday 6th September 2014. There will be a huge host of activities starting with opening speeches and a street procession up Fore Street and High Street in Totnes. This will be followed by the indoor day event at Totnes Civic Hall with; a live panel discussion, community art projects, workshops, community stalls, a children's craft area, Dot's Diner and a cinema and a library. Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell will be joining us this September, as well as political activist Christine Burns MBE and Charity Founder Suran Dickson.
There will also be an after-show party at The Barrel House in Totnes, with live music courtesy of ‘GoldDust‘, ‘Yourgardenday‘ and ‘Hummingbirds’. There will be a DJ set and inspiring projections from Madame Souza and Lady Macadie and a chill out area with hot and cold food available to buy.
