Dear <<First Name>>,

The Northeast Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (NRCAC) is pleased to announce that we are hosting a Multidisciplinary Team Academy dedicated to Northeast Regional Teams in 2015.  The Academy session will be held on June 23 - 26, 2015.  NRCAC will be reimbursing travel and lodging expenses for all Team Members to participate in this team building experience. Location to be determined.

Multidisciplinary Team Academy is a three and a half day training designed to facilitate team development, enhance team skills and team relationships. Teams must be actively investigating and prosecuting child abuse cases. Teams must have core representation from Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement and Prosecution/DA. Other team members should include representation from Victim Advocacy, Mental Health, Medical, Team Coordinator, Forensic Interviewer or CAC Staff. Each team for the training consists of 5 to 6 team members.

Topics to be covered include:
Building team ground rules                                                    CAC standards
Case flow charts                                                                    Protocols
Policies and Procedures                                                        Team building
Team development model                                                      Conflict resolution
Roles and Responsibilities

Teams will come away from this training with:
  • a better understanding of team members’ and disciplines’ roles and responsibilities
  • how teams coordinate their efforts for more successful outcomes for children
  • how team members balance agency commitment with team commitment
  • an action plan of the next steps to further the development of the team and/or CAC.
  • an opportunity to create or improve their investigative process and working relationships with the assistance of a knowledgeable facilitator.

The lead facilitator for this training is John Alderson. John is the Director of Resources for Change, Inc., a training and consulting group that provides customized training for multidisciplinary child sexual abuse programs. He has designed and delivered training for the U.S. Air Force and Army Family Advocate Programs, National Resources Centers, National Children’s Alliance, Regional CACs and many State Departments of Social Services, Law Enforcement, Mental Health and Juvenile Justice. In addition, each team is assigned a facilitator to work individually with their team. These facilitators are carefully matched with teams based on their experience.
