Library Holiday Hours
The library will be closed :
December 24, 25, 26 and January 1.
We are open regular hours on Saturday Dec. 27, Sunday Dec. 28, Tuesday Dec 30, and Wednesday Dec. 31 at our regular times.

Annie Laurie Wood Annex - Update
We have been busy this year working towards our goal of providing additional community space in the library. The Annie Laurie Wood Annex is a planned addition to the library that will provide approximately 1200 square feet of open floor space to be used for study, work, programs, meetings, workshops and community gathering.
The Library is extremely grateful for all of the support that we have received in 2014 for the Annie Laurie Wood Annex. Between the Knick-Knack-Nook Auction in October, the sales of our 2014 Bowen Reads Calendar and private donations we have accumulated more than $18,000 in funding, as well as in-kind donations valued at more than $5,000. Many thanks to all of our donors and supporters!
The Library is also exploring a joint project with the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC). This would be an expanded version of the annex project with the library space at one end and a gallery and office space for BIAC at the other. The joint project (Cove Culture Corner or C3) would be an enhanced gathering space in Snug Cove, a collaboration that would create a hub of energy and activity, spark economic opportunities and celebrate the artistic and intellectual life of Bowen Island.
The C3 idea is an attractive proposition, but it needs to make sense physically and financially for each of the organizations and for the entire community. We are working to have a preliminary design priced out by a quantity surveyor in January 2015 to determine whether a joint building will be affordable and attainable. We believe that taking one careful step after another will lead to clarity on decision-making, and potentially a case for support that earns the backing of the entire community.
