Early one morning this week I looked at the top of the hills above Grand Marais and all the trees were white. As I got closer to the top of the ridge, it was an absolute winter wonderland. Every single branch, needle and twig was covered with beautiful feathery white hoar frost. It was some of the thickest hoar frost that I have ever seen.
Hoar frost is somewhat rare so I grabbed my camera to capture some of the wintery white scenes. I knew I had only a few hours before the sun and wind would melt the beautiful ice crystals and the landscape would change.
