A Few Final eNews Items for the Year:

2015 Budget Submission
A letter from the Treasurer, Peter Gutwein has been received, inviting Shelter Tas to put out a Budget Submission for 2015/16 on behalf of the housing and homelessness sector. The Submission will build on previous work and address current issues, such as:
• Funding commitments to the NPAH and NAHA
• Minimal standards in the private rental market
• Public housing debt
• Community housing capacity building
• Combating homelessness
 Appropriate housing for young people
• Disability and housing.

We will be consulting with various housing and homelessness groups and are seeking feedback. If you would like to contribute, please contact the Shelter office on 03 6224 5488 by the next Shelter Executive meeting on 20th January 2015.

Training for Professionals, Working with People Who Hoard
This training will provide practical strategies to reduce acquiring, and increasing sorting and discarding.
The day will include: definitions and tools to guide practice; reduce harm then reduce the amount; OH&S; case presentations.
When: 12th January 2015
Where: Tasmanian Royal Botanical Gardens
Time: 10.00-4.00, includes refreshments

Reminder - Call For Contributions for the February 2015 Edition of Parity
The Council to Homeless Persons (CHP) have put out a call for contributions for the February 2015 ‘Homelessness Outreach’ edition of their  magazine, 'Parity'.  All contributions should be submitted as Word attachments to an email addressed to parity@chp.org.au.  Contributions can be up to 1,600 words, which will be a double page spread. Single page articles can be up to 800 words in length. Contributions of a greater length should be discussed with the Parity Editor.  If you have any questions at all about contributing to this edition please contact the Parity Editor by email parity@chp.org.au or ring (03) 8415 6200.  Detailed information on referencing and writing guidelines for Parity can be found here.  All contributions need to be submitted by Friday Feb 13th 2015.
