It's all about books, generally speaking…

Hello Troopers!
It's the end of the year again and I wanted to say thanks to all of you for a great year and for supporting me and other indie writers! I hope your holidays and new year are full of time with those you love, cheery lights, parties, and more of the things that bring you joy.

I accomplished the fabulous goal of completing the Spectras Arise Trilogy in July, then surprised myself and also wrote a prequel novella, which most of you have already. It was odd to finish the series that I started way back in 2005 (yes, I'm a slow writer) and then, almost without stopping for a breath, to write yet another story to go along with it—Conviction—but it was a tale that just needed to be told. The characters Aly and David Erikson, as well as János Rajcik, had a back story, and they weren't going to let me rest until it was also in the world for others to read. Speaking of which, Conviction is now, or will be soon, permafree on all the major book retailer sites (Amazon is a little behind but should drop the price soon). Why not let your friends who dig military sci-fi know about it? Along those lines, Contract of Defiance is only .99 for the next week. Great last-minute gift idea, if I do say so myself.

So what I'm working on now? Well, firstly I'm appearing on author Martin Lastrapes's show today to talk with him about writing and editing. (For those who don't know, my day gig is editing, mostly in the speculative fiction genre. So when I say I'm a word glutton, now you know just how serious I am.) The podcast should be posted within a couple of weeks. I'll link you when it is. Besides that, I've been heavily outlining a new series that is all about galactic rifts in reality, space wars, berserkers, and a race of beings called Verities who can wipe out civilization on a whim—and often do. It promises to be action packed, yet a little more florid than tales told by Aly, mostly because I have a bigger vocabulary than she does, and these books won't be in first person. I'm calling the genre science fantasy fusion. Right now, the first book isn't likely to be ready until July 2015, but my goal is to make sure the series is all out by December. Not sure yet how many books it will contain, but no self-respecting word glutton can stop at just one, amiright?

That's about it, friends. Now for the obligatory call to action.
  1. Get into the holiday cheer and spend some money on all the fabulous people in your life! Buy Contract of Defiance for friends, family, or for yourself if you haven't read it already: Amazon, B&N, Kobo, and iTunes. Or, hey, go crazy and get a print copy.
  2. A great gift to me would be to leave a review of Conviction on Amazon (even if you downloaded it for free) and recommend it to your friends.
  3. Eat pie! Cake! Cookies! And whatever else strikes your fancy. Because, after all, if you can't eat those things when the year is coming to an end and you're about to start with a clean slate, when can you?

Peace out!
