Words matter.― John Kenney

Dear Friend,

Why choose a word for the year?

I choose a word each year because it helps to keep me focused on how I want to feel. It helps ground me in my own desires. It helps me to stick to my intention because sometimes I suffer from shiny object syndrome. It sets the tone for my year. And sometimes it breaks me open in very unexpected ways. (I'm looking at you, NURTURE).

Here are a bunch of my favorite writings about words of the year.

Why I Hated My Word of the Year from Create as Folk. SPOILER ALERT: it brought tears to my eyes.

My Word of the Year for 2014 from Be Your Own Beloved

From Vivienne: When I pick a pretty word, a gentle one that warms my heart, that feels calming to say aloud….I have a gentle year (which is usually oh so appreciated).

But when I pick a word that feels deeply uncomfortable to say aloud, let alone write about in a blog post, those are the words that change my life.  Those are the words that I need to choose to make transformations happen.

If choosing a word for the year sounds like something you'd like to do and you'd like a gentle guide through a pretty simple process check out the link below for Restoration Not Resolutions.

If you'd like to try it on your own, check out this post from my girl, Rosie Molinary.

I hope you are well.

With lots of love and compassion,

Wouldn't it be lovely to start the new year with some serious self-care, relaxation and intention setting? Let's spend the day together relaxing, rejuvenating and not even thinking about New Year's resolutions.

In this 3.5 hour restorative yoga workshop we will first lounge and get good and relaxed. Then we'll spend some time time exploring questions which will lead to choosing a word or touchstone for the new year.

You will need to bring:
- Favorite comfortable stretchy outfit including cozy socks.
- Any yoga props you have: a mat, blankets, bolsters, eye pillows etc.
- Somewhere to write your ideas on how you want to feel in the new year.
- Your favorite writing tool - a pen, mechanical pencil, sharpie, water colors...

We'll provide:
- A relaxing and refreshing restorative yoga sequence.
- Tea and homemade dairy free cookies.
- Writing exercises to inspire intention setting for 2015.

I am looking to work with 5 people ready for something different. People who want to feel do a little bit of yoga every day instead of a lot of yoga once in a while. People who are willing to try new ways to get new results - like feeling good at the end of their work day and letting go of anxiety and depression.

Send me a message if that is something you'd like to do and feel in 2015. I work with people locally and via Skype, so let's see if we are a good fit for each other.
