Resistance Matters
View this email in your browser
In December, BMC was in full winter bloom, not only assuming the warrior stance, but celebrating our collective voice, resilience and potential.
More Justice, More Peace
BMC stepped up it's #BlackLivesMatter and police accountability work, first by hosting the Bed-Stuy town hall, "Ferguson and Beyond" on December 8th, and then on December 18th, with the organizing of "This is What Resistance Looks Like," a community teach-in that provided multiple pathways for movement building and dismantling abusive policing. We also offered on-going analysis of the moment through featured appearances on WNYC's Brian Lehrer's show and in the pages of City Limits Magazine.
Learning to Run our Food
Cooperative World
The Central Brooklyn Food Co-op held a retreat on December 13. Attended by 22 core food co-op members and organizers, the session was led by Ben Sandel from the CDS Consulting Co-op group. The co-op will use the business training and strategic planning from the retreat to incorporate the co-op, draft by-laws, write a business plan, and build effective outreach campaigns to expand the membership base.
