National Energy Foundation and Energy Efficiency Partnership for Buildings

NEF success in re-certification for Carbon Trust Standard
We're delighted that once again we've achieved the Carbon Trust Standard. The Foundation was re-certified on a 4.8% absolute reduction in its carbon footprint across the period April 2011 – March 2014. The Carbon Trust Standard requires organisations to demonstrate year-on-year measurement of their carbon emissions, with re-certification requiring us to go one stage further and report on our business travel emissions too.
We also achieved a great 86% carbon management score (the pass threshold being 60%) demonstrating our ongoing commitment to good all-round carbon management performance in our day-to-day operations.

True green costs to bills
Analysis shows that the Government’s ‘green’ measures and policies have added £100 per year to average energy bills over last 10 years. However, most households are also around £165 per year better off due to those policies – because of people installing new boilers, insulation and more efficient electrical appliances, and most of the £490 increase has been due to a rise in gas prices.

Consultations

Changes to grandfathering policy with respect to future biomass co-firing and conversion projects in the Renewables Obligation
DECC is seeking view on the proposal that the support rate under the Renewables Obligation (RO) for future biomass co-firing and conversion projects should no longer be covered by our grandfathering policy; and that this change would apply to combustion units that move into the mid-range, high-range co-firing or biomass conversion bands under the RO.
Consultation closes on 26 January 2015.
