This December, we're paying homage to the classic Christmas carol, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
While doing a little research about the lyrics (thanks, Wikipedia!) I learned something interesting about the one we are playing with today - "hang a shining star upon the highest bough." In the original version of the song written during World War II, the line was "Until then we'll have to muddle through somehow." When Frank Sinatra recorded the song in 1957, he asked the writer to "jolly up that line for me." And that's how the shining star line came to be! Although I'm all for muddling around, I like the starry version better! How about you?

Theme: Hang a Shining Star
Today the lyric we are using to create a inspiring holiday layout about is "Hang a Shining Star." If you know the song, you'll know this is the crescendo when your voice goes the highest. We asked our Creative Team to think about how to make make a stunning holiday layout using a non-traditional holiday element. And of course, they included some stars.
Today, our Creative Team is joined by Scrap Girls customer Sarah Brownell.

Christmas in Australia is anything but white. We have Christmas trees, but at my house, the tree isn’t a real one. Our Christmas dinner is usually enjoyed in air conditioning because it’s too hot for an outdoor roast! We have our own traditions, which include seafood, viewing local, festive light displays, and playing Christmas cricket matches. Traditions are what you make them, and for us, a traditional Christmas is spending time together as a family on a hot, summery Christmas Day. - Jody

For this week’s assignment, I wanted to use a non-traditional holiday color scheme for my layout. My photos didn't really match up with my color choice, so I needed some help with recoloring. I used Brandy Murry's ScrapSimple Tools – Actions: Magical Photos PSE to get just what I wanted. These actions do all the hard work for you and even let you do some adjusting once you run them! - Shannon

I love this vintage photo showing Christmas in the early 1900s. However, when I planned how to scrap it, I felt it deserved something a bit more special than the normal red and green Christmas colors. I decided to for a gold-and-black color palette instead. I also used the non-traditional kit Brookside Manor as I felt this was a better match with the “feel” of the vintage photo. The end result – a vintage Christmas layout! - Anna
"Silent Night" which recounts a quiet night and the birth of Jesus. It has color scheme of rich blues and bright shiny gold and silver with velour, old paper and glitter textures.
