With 2014 drawing to an end, we at AmaTerra would like to thank you for playing a significant part in such an exciting year. Enjoy all of the laughter, hope, and wonder this season brings as we all look eagerly forward to the year ahead with excitement and a sense of adventure!
Archaeology We are busy, busy, busy! With our archaeology staff working in 23 counties in five states, we’ve had some great new projects this year. We’ve added on eight new staff members in the El Paso/Las Cruces area. Projects for Fort Bliss and WSMR will keep us busy through the winter and spring and we look forward to more growth in our NM branch office! Also, very soon, we will be unveiling what we see is a dramatic step up in public interpretation in archaeology! Back to the top...
Historic Resources Our Historic Resources program is really taking off this year ~ With the addition of new staff, including Deborah Dobson-Brown as the Program Manager, we have some new projects in Texas at Fort Bliss and nationwide for the U.S. Postal Service. We have to admit, we’re glad we wrapped up our postal service work in Mankato, Minnesota back in the summer, the cold would probably take us Texans a little time to get used to! We look forward to the continued “building” of this program in 2015! Back to the top...
Biological Resources We’ve had a busy spring, summer, and fall this year spending many hours out in the field completing avian and rare flora surveys throughout Texas. A highlight from the year was our team’s tree survey for the City of Austin’s five historic cemeteries. Detailed documentation of more than 5,300 trees has already been put into action for the City’s Urban Forestry Department’s maintenance rotation. Winter months are always a bit calm, which will help us prepare for a busy spring season! Back to the top...
Wetlands Have you ever tried to explain something like a “wetland” to 1st and 2nd graders? We did -- and the greatest fun of it was asking what kinds of animals did they think lived there? The answers ranged from ducks to dinosaurs -- which if you think about it -- was probably true at some point. So if you have some wetlands that need explaining -- just give us a call! NEPA documents continue to keep us busy. We are excited to team with many firms on completing these documents. Whether it is just for one discipline or several, we have the staff ready to help with your NEPA projects! Back to the top...
We have been so thrilled with the chance to have worked on an extensive mapping and digitizing effort for the City of Austin's Historic Cemetery Master Plan project. 2014 was also the year we stepped further into new analytical frontiers in archaeological probability modeling and historic map overlay and interpretation for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Thank you everyone and 2015 here we come! Back to the top...
Marine Archaeology The ol' AmaTerra sea legs didn't get too much of a workout this year, but we did get out to do some submerged resource monitoring in Orange County at the beginning of 2014, which was quite nice. We've been working with a number of folks to keep up on our game and are ready as soon as the sea calls. Back to the top...
AmaTerra recently checked out the new GSSI SIR 4000 at Austin's historic Oakwood Cemetery and we can't wait to take it out and do some serious GPRin'! That's a word, right? It is now... Back to the top...
We have some exciting new compliance projects coming up this quarter including environmental services for the oil and gas community. New work around the Choke Canyon Reservoir area has everyone ready to hit the field -- always nice to spend a few days out in nature and we couldn’t pick a prettier setting~ Back to the top...
Thank you again for helping us make this such a fantastic year! Let's make 2015 even better!
