Reminder: 2015 Open Education Awards for Excellence: Call for Nominations is Open
The Open Education Awards for Excellence provide annual recognition to outstanding contributions in the Open Education Consortium community. These awards recognize distinctive open education sites, technological innovations, notable open courses, and exemplary leaders in Open Education worldwide. The awards are announced each year at the Open Education Global Conference.
 
Deadline to submit nominations: 16 January 2015. For more information and to submit a nomination click here.
 
Reminder: Open Education Week: 9 -13 March 2015: Call for Participation is Open
Open Education Week is a celebration of the global Open Education Movement. Its purpose is to raise awareness about open education and its impact on teaching and learning worldwide. Open education encompasses resources, tools and practices that employ a framework of open sharing to improve educational access and effectiveness. Participation in all events and use of all resources are free and open to everyone.
 
The Open Education Week Organizing Committee invites your contributions to and participation in the annual Open Education Week, featuring online and in-person events around the world.
Web banners, posters, slide templates and other promotional materials are available on the Open Education Week Website

Open Education Week is coordinated by the Open Education Consortium.

New Release: Video Journal of Open Education Abstracts - Volume 1 from OCWC Global Conference 2014 is now available!

Welcome to the first issue of the Video Journal of Open Education. The first issue is dedicated to presenting the presentations from the OCWC Global Conference held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 23-26 April 2014. The presentations were full lengthened to 20 minutes with an allowance of paper, slides and interview. The VideoLectures.NET team were on site to record the presentations and they post-processed the recordings together with interviews and incorporated the slides into the video.

Open Education Consortium: 3rd Quarterly membership meeting

The Open Education Consortium will host its 3rd quarterly membership meeting during the week of 26 January 2015. The quarterly membership meetings provide a venue for members to hear about the Consortium’s and Members’ activities, interact with open education professionals from around the world, discuss topics of common interest and get feedback and input from other members. Members have the opportunity to suggest topics for the calls and to request a short time to present their work or important issues in open education worldwide.

Dates and times for the 3rd quarterly membership meeting, together with agenda and information on how to participate will be announced in early January 2015. Archives of the previous two meetings can be accessed here.
