PEOPLE NOT STONES—We are thrilled to announce a new public/private partnership between the government of Peru and SPI to take SPI’s paradigm nationwide! This collaboration will bring SPI’s programs to communities living along the Inca Road (Qhapaq Ñan) system, recently named World Heritage by UNESCO.
Leveraging the power and influence of the national government this partnership brings SPI nationwide, resulting in empowered entrepreneurs, new jobs, alleviated poverty and the past preserved throughout Peru.
SPI’s excellent track record in its other Peruvian projects at archaeological sites such as San Juan de Moro, Chotuna-Chornancap, Bandurria and Pachacamac convinced the Peruvian government to partner with us. We are humbled and truly excited to do this important work.
We all talk of the
scalability of charitable and social entrepreneurship paradigms. The best way to do that is to demonstrate our paradigm, and then have the government adopt it and take it nationwide with our help.
As
Peru’s Vice Minister of Cultural Patrimony and Cultural Industries, Luis Jaime Castillo said, “I
f people cannot benefit economically from their heritage, they might think that they have no reason to preserve it. SPIs paradigm has benefitted the lives of Peruvians and preserved our cultural patrimony. We look forward to bringing this paradigm to poor communities and sites throughout the country”.
Working on this
greatly expanded scale requires your support. Help us create a sustainable future for heritage sites and the communities that live in and around them.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment to preservation entrepreneurship.
Generous donors will match your contribution dollar for dollar!
