Wallace Ministries
Prayer Meeting
Please join us for our weekly prayer meeting each Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in Scott Bridges' office. All are welcome.

GriefShare
Fliers and brochures are now available for the GriefShare support group that will begin at Wallace on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. The fliers are half-sheet pieces with basic information designed to be placed on bulletin boards at grocery stores, libraries or other community locations.

The brochures provide more detail about GriefShare and what to expect at a meeting and are ideal to give to an individual who has experienced the death of a loved one. This piece should answer some questions you may have and help you determine if GriefShare is right for you at this time.

Many of you have indicated that you have spoken to a friend, neighbor or colleague about GriefShare. Please take advantage of these materials to reinforce your invitation and provide them with more details.  If you have any questions, please see Nancy Keegan or email her at nancykeegan@gmail.com.

New Adult Teaching Fellowship Course Begins January 4th: Ephesians
Beginning on the first Sunday of the New Year, the Living Faith class will begin a new study on Paul’s letter to the Christians in Ephesus. Come join our intergenerational class for a weekly in-depth study and discussion of God’s Word. In our class, we seek to grow our faith and deepen our walk with Christ and each other. If you are new to Wallace, this is a good way to get to know a smaller group of people. Visitors are welcome at any time. For questions or more information, contact elder Dorry Kenyon, dmkenyon@earthlink.net301-871-0643.

Hospitality Team Holiday Break
In order for your faithful Coffee Fellowship servers to more fully enjoy the holidays we will be giving them a break from providing snacks for us after worship. Please be advised that on December 21, 28, 2014, and January 4, 2015, we will be serving only coffee and tea after worship. We know, however, that the congregation will want to stay and visit with each other as is our usual practice, so you may want to stick a granola bar or other snack in your bag or pocket in the morning.

Home Groups
The Home Group ministry is a very important part of the life of Wallace, fostering fellowship and growth in grace. This ministry has life cycles in our church calendar and the groups are currently on a break until Sunday, January 11. Please contact coleman@wallacepca.org if you are interested in joining a group when they begin again.

Theology Breakfast
The Theology Breakfast meets each Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 a.m. A light breakfast is served. The current book being discussed is "God Is Impassible and Impassioned" by Rob Lister. This group is led by David Miner. This group will take a break for the holidays on December 24 and December 30, but will resume on January 7.

West Side Bible Study
The West Side Bible Study group will meet again on Tuesday, January 13 at the home of Alison Beatty to continue their study of the Book of Joshua.  Call 301-589-5259 for more information.

Giving to Wallace

2015 Offering envelopes are here. If you had a box of offering envelopes in 2014, Please pick up your 2015 envelopes in the narthex sometime in the next week or two. Please note, we’ve changed the numbers again, so please do not use envelopes from a previous year. We have a new color this time to help you remember.

Some of you may be wondering why one would use offering envelopes. There are several reasons, such as for confidentiality or as a reminder, but the most important reason is that people who give their donations in cash can use it as a way to have us track their gifts and prepare a year-end receipt. Of course, if you contribute by check, we will provide a year-end statement whether you use an envelope or not. (We generally provide an itemized statement in January for any person who has donated over $250 in the previous calendar year.)

If you have not used envelopes in the past, but would like a set, please speak with Nancy Keegan.

Electronic giving is coming to Wallace. We will soon provide the option of making one-time or recurring gifts via our church website. We are not sure if it will be available before the end of the year, but we will let you know as soon as this function is up and running.

Wallace Holiday Office Closures
The church office will be closed from December 24-Jan 2
for the holiday season.

PRAYER

Our Church Family
Please continue to pray about our significant budget deficit. Ask God to guide us as stewards and to provide for what He wants done.

Pray for wisdom about how to solve the sprinkler system and for provision for the resources to pay for the fix which will be very expensive.

Pray for those currently undergoing treatment for cancer: Suzanne Johnson, Marie Jones, Les Myers (father of Karen Frank), Jim Pariseault (brother-in-law of Gail Hemphill).

Praise for a successful hip replacement surgery for Richard Jones on Monday. Please continue to pray for quick healing as Marie continues to receive radiation and coordinates both of their health needs.

Our Children

Please pray for Sue Maksim as she steps down from teaching Sunday School in January due to extra duties at her teaching job and for Mike Henry who will take over as lead teacher and for Becca Holden who will be his assistant and their Sunday School class for Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Pray for all the children preparing for our program especially those with small groups that are singing.

Praise for over $1500 already raised to help needy children through World Vision.  Pray for our final tally to grow and that the gospel as well as material help will go forth in power.

Our Nation and Our World
Pray for Abraham and Celena NuQuay and their children, Jimmie and Emma, as they gather interested people in Charles County to have a monthly time of fellowship, prayer, and service to others.  Pray that those who attend this new church plant, Christ New Community, will grow in grace and love for the Waldorf community.  Pray also for the teen girls ministry and for a proposed boys ministry.  Pray for Abraham as he follows a full course load at Reformed Theological Seminary and for Celena as she commutes to a full-time job in Bethesda.  Pray for God's divine wisdom and strength to balance the many responsibilities.

Pray for Tom and Mariellyn Hilgeman, retired from formal mission service, coping with cost of living in Dallas, TX.  Pray for Tom as he works as a substitute in local Christian schools and serves weekly with the Gideons.  Pray for Mariellyn as she writes curriculum materials in early childhood education for a Christian school in another country.  Pray that she can meet the January deadline.  Pray for wisdom as they consider whether to apply for Social Security at this time.
