Raging Dragons

Season 2016

Raging Dragons at St Neots

Cars, competition and conquests

Rage would not be Rage without our fair share of memorable race day dramas. This year we saw a minor improvement – moving away from car breakdowns, to last minute manic car hires as rental companies failed to match Captain Marfiak to his home address. Car pick up fail...

Following on from last year's tradition, a pregnant hero came to the rescue. A massive thanks to Kay who drove our Rage boys all the way to Stockton – before driving herself back after a quick dinner. What a champ :) Thanks also to Jojo for her ace bargaining skills and getting us a car hire discount before driving people back to London after a full day of racing. What can I say...Rage girls rock ;)

Aside from such classic Rage glitches, the team has trained hard and pulled off a respectable performance, securing 3rd place in the Mixed and 6th place for now on the National Premier League tables. Our girls (joining forces with Typhoon and competing as team Firestorm) are just 2 points behind 1st place, doing our best to defend our title as 2015 Ladies' league champions.

The highlight so far this year was making the prestigious 200m Major Finals amidst some fast, fierce competition at the London BDA. Just two races to go – let's aim high and finish strong!

Rage family fun

Rage values quality time together off the water as much as on it. Thanks to Jess for organising our social events this year, and what great variety we've enjoyed – post-training dim sum, ping pong, Rage girls' cinema night, a darts and pizza social, and thanks to both Jess and Jojo for organising the social extravaganza of 2016 – our Braylake stand up paddling and barbecue outing :D

Stay tuned...more fun to follow!

Ragers in Rome

Congratulations to Buzz, Pete, Reds, Travers and Vic on qualifying for Team GB 2016. Congrats also to Katha, who has only recently moved to Worcester, and to honorary Rager Tracy :)
GB Ragers
They are now in Italy checking out the race venue and preparing for competition (due to start this week). It's great to have some Ragers there representing club and country. Race hard, and bring back some bling!

Babies, Bananas and new Rage recruits

Time flies and it's hard to believe baby Josh Chow is now already a year old. And our Rage family continues to grow...

Congrats to proud Uncle Dave on the arrival of little Teddie and congratulations also to Kay and Travers – we look forward to meeting Noah when he comes out to play very soon. Kay, you've been an absolute trouper this year! :)
Also, since the beginning of 2016, we've had the pleasure of welcoming Janny, Dave C, Viki, Natt, Maggie, Phil, Stefanie and 'Bananas' Johnny, Jocelyn, Mandy, Frances, Chris and Sophie to the Rage family. Some of these guys have had quite a christening – joining us for just a few trainings before getting subjected to a baptism of fire at various BDA races. Awesome stuff, guys – great to have you all on board! :)

In other news...

Congratulations to the Chows who are now proud owners of Malaysian café Ken's Kitchen in Old Street. If anyone is in the area, please drop by and say hello :)

Congrats and lots of love to Pete and Sue who recently celebrated their wedding in sunny Cuba. We wish them all the happiness they deserve in their next chapter of life's adventures.

Well done to Jam who has just passed his Masters exams in Cambridge (we knew you would!) and congratulations also to Lejon (now back in Asia) who became the first Imperial graduate to join the Schwarzman scholars.

We are incredibly proud of both of you and will be sad to see Jam also leave the UK in October. Nice for us to know though that wherever we travel there are Rage family members all over the world. Once a Rager, always a Rager. Be sure to keep in touch.

Rage's August babies

Happy birthday this month to baby Josh (2nd), Taiwo (3rd), Mandy (4th), Janny (9th), Ken (10th), Lejon (now in Singapore – 13th), Jo A (21st) and Jo Tang (25th).

Wow...what a popular birthday month! Have a great one, guys...the rest of us are loving the thought of this mass dunking... ;)

Rage as one

Two years ago Raging Dragons fought our way back into the National Premier League. Last year we finished in 5th place, and this season our goal has been to retain that status. With competition getting tougher each year, it means we've also had to up our game.

With so many close races won and lost by mere fractions of a second over the last few months and just two races to go till the end of the racing season, it's imperative that we make the most of whatever training sessions we have left so we can finish 2016 on a high.

Let's dig deep and maintain focus for just two more months so we can be proud at the end of the season, knowing that we've given it our all.

As well as trainings, please reply to Jess when she organises our remaining season socials. Work hard, play hard.
