Braun ends RBI drought with 426-foot monster

 Games played July 22, 2016

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler singled, got hit by a pitch, stole his 10th base, and scored three times in a 7-5 win over the White Sox. Among all A.L. players, Kinsler is tied for 7th in overall Wins Above Replacement with 4.1, an estimate of how many extra wins a player has provided his team versus a replacement player.

Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun walked and hit his 14th home run in a 5-2 loss to the Cubs. According to MLB.com, the 426-foot home run to dead center helped Braun snap a streak of 15 straight games without an RBI, the longest drought of his 10-year career. Braun last drove in runs on June 29, when he went 2-for-4 with a HR and 4 RBIs.

Toronto CF Kevin Pillar's sliding catch ended Seattle's bases-loaded threat in the 6th inning, but the Mariners went on to win 2-1. Pillar leads all A.L. players this season in defensive Wins Above Replacement. His outfield play so far is estimated to have earned Toronto 1.9 more wins than they would have achieved with a replacement player.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson robbed Tommy Pham of extra bases in a 16-inning, 4-3 loss to the Cardinals. Pederson came to bat with two outs and a man on second base in the 15th inning but popped out to the third baseman.

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia had a pinch-hit out in the A's 13-inning, 1-0 win over Tampa Bay.

Reliever Richard Bleier did not play in the Yankees' 3-2 win over Baltimore.

Reliever Scott Feldman did not play in Houston's 2-1 win over the Angels.
