Small Group opportunities for Summer

You are invited to join the Fellowship Class (Fellowship Hall, 9:45 a.m., Sunday mornings) focusing on the theme: Toward a New Creation - Genesis, Psalms, Zephaniah, and Romans.

The Fenstermaker Class is now using the Wired Word, an adult Sunday School lesson that confronts world news with scripture and hope.  Current topics will be emailed each Thursday through the summer.  Let Gwenn Freeman (gwenn720@gmail.com) know if you would like to receive the weekly email and join us at 9:45am on Sunday for the discussions.

Avondale Samaritan Place is sponsoring a Yard Works Ministry on Tuesday and Thursday mornings through July.
If you are unable to care for your yard, you can submit an application for light yard work (mowing, blowing and weed-eating). Applications are available in the lobby of the Education Building. Fill it out and turn it in to Gwenn Freeman or the church office.

We are so excited to again host a Back to School Rally on Thursday, August 4th from 6-7pm.  It will take place in conjunction with our regular Community Picnic but we will have bouncy houses and games for kids in the gym.  Together we will celebrate the end of summer and return to school.

Avondale Samaritan Place will be making teacher boxes for every teacher at Avondale Elementary School.  So many of our teachers use personal funds to cover the cost of initial school supplies.  Let's all support our neighborhood school and get them started strong. Bring supplies to church anytime before Tuesday, July 26th.
Please consider donating some of the following items for the boxes: Pencils, Colored paper, Card stock, Notecards, Sentence strips, Glue sticks, Paper clips, Hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Pencil sharpeners In addition to teacher boxes Avondale Samaritan Place will be making a monthly "happy" for every staff person at Avondale Elementary School.  Please consider a donation of $25.  Each month when the teacher receives their little gift they will be reminded that this community is behind them.  Contact Alison Jenkins for information.  ajenkins@avonumc.net

Chancel Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, August 3rd, at 7pm in the Choir Room. If you have ever had any interest in music or singing, now is the perfect time to come and see what we're all about as we gear up for the fall season. Reading music is not required; however, a sense of humour is strongly encouraged. For further information, please see Nathan Smock after the service, or contact him at nsmock@avonumc.net.
