This week at SOTH

From Pastor Kristen

This past Sunday we heard Jesus teach the disciples how to pray, offering them the words of the Lord’s Prayer – the same prayer we pray each Sunday, more than 2,000 years later. The petitions in Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer are shorter than our weekly prayer, but they are still all we need to direct our prayers and our lives: God’s Kingdom come, daily bread, forgiveness, and deliverance in the midst of trying times. Amen!

In other news, a big shout out to everyone who participated in and supported our Lots o’ Fun parking lot fundraiser, which raised over $1,300. The combined generosity of so many people and organizations means that we have surpassed our goal of $7,257!

Remember to invite your friends and neighbors to the Book Fair, Bake Sale, and Raffle event this Saturday, July 30, from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Share our Facebook event on your own page to help get the word around. Thanks to the many volunteers who are making this event possible!

Opportunities

If you would like to give the Children's Sermon one Sunday morning, please talk to Pastor Kristen. They are great for the kids and us older people, too!

Ushers are needed, one for the month of November and two for the month of December. Please talk to Tom Ritter if you are interested, or phone him at 636-244-7747.

The next St. Ann Food Truck Night is THIS Thursday, July 28 at St. Ann Park, Pavilion #1, 4445 Ashby Road. We will use our table at this event to help publicize our Book Fair on Saturday, July 30.  Many thanks to everyone who has helped.

SOTH will host a Book Fair, Bake Sale, and Raffle on Saturday, July 30. Proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit Joni and Friends, Humanitri, and The Bridge. The Bake Sale will benefit WELCA. (Please bring goodies to sell.) The Men's Group will be serving hot dogs and chips. There will be raffle of one Kid's bag and one Adult's bag.

Volunteers will be needed on Thursday and Friday to get the books ready for sale, as well as box lids and bags for purchased books. Please contact Pat Amick (314-551-0389) for questions. The remaining books will be at church Sunday, July 31 for anyone who would like to purchase them. Any books not sold will be donated to charity.

Please bring your new or gently worn shoes to Church in the next couple of weeks.  They will be given to the Shoeman Water Projects.  By selling unwanted shoes, the SWP can:

  • Keep usable shoes out of local landfills
  • Provide shoes in our local communities
  • Educate our communities about the global water crisis
  • Fund Shoeman Water Project operations and water projects in developing countries
  • Educate people in developing countries about water, sanitation, health, and hygiene

Providing water empowers communities to provide for themselves and allows women and children time to go to work or school

Please submit your events and opportunities for consideration and report any corrections to communications@sothstl.org
