Health Connection / Yarn & Blessings
Activities/Other Affiliations; Garden Club, Rotary, Handknitters Guild, Fiber Friends, 1st Baptist Church and Adult Bible Fellowship (That's Sunday School, y'all!), Common Bond Bible Study, & IWN, of course!
Interests: Knitting, reading, my Church family, grandkids, sharing my knitted items with friends, having a Dairy Queen Blizzard & Bible Study.
Family: Daughter, Susan Merritt in Granbury, 2 sons, Jim and Trent, who live with Jesus in Heaven, 6 grandkids, and 8 great grandkids. Also a stepson and stepdaughter in Shreveport plus 6 step grandkids and 4 step great grandkids all in Shreveport.
Greatest Honor Received: I was elected National President of the Women's Life Underwriters Conference in about 1985 & was invited to speak to the women in Tokyo, Japan.
If I Could Change Careers: I wouldn't change anything!
I'm Happiest when: I'm sitting in my favorite recliner when I am either reading a good book, playing solitaire on my IPad, knitting, doing a crossword puzzle, or just watching TV with my hubby, and of course while snacking on all my nuts and candy and whatever else is available!!!
The last book I read was: The Last Mile by David Baldachi.
I wish I knew how to: Paint Portraits
The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be: Tom Selleck, Ronald Reagan, Doris Day and Frank Sinatra.
My ideal vacation is: Sking down a wonderful snow covered mountain!
My favorite restaurant is: Rudy's Mexican Food and Sweet Tomatoes.
If I won the lottery, I would: Set up some kind of an income producing investment for my church honoring my children, add some money to the existing foundation I set up at Irving Baylor honoring my son, Jim, who died in 2004, and I'd share the rest with both my children & grandchildren as well as my husband's children and grandchildren.

August Program
Laughter is the Best Medicine
|
|
August is just about over, the temperatures are still soaring and we are about ready to start the fall race into the 2016 holiday season. Whew … are we ready ladies? Well our August speaker is just the medicine (tranquilizer) we need to get ready for the race.
Meet Marian Odell, a lady after our own hearts. She is a great grandmother who wears pretty clothes, knows how to model them, had a long and satisfying career in business, been married for 32 years, has held national positions with the American Legion Auxiliary, can teach you all about American flag etiquette, knows how to belt out a song, and has taught ballroom dancing to boot! Her talks have a reputation for being humorous and inspirational.
So grab your salad plate and tea, sit back and relax and let Marian show us how to “Have A Blast While You Lastâ€.
P.S. You can’t help but like someone who says she loves John Wayne!
